Using LifeLearn documents in Cornerstone

Learn how to use LifeLearn documents in Cornerstone after subscribing to LifeLearn ClientEd Online. You can also load the older versions of LifeLearn that are on CD.

LifeLearn ClientEd Online

The LifeLearn ClientEd Online web-based portal offers you the added flexibility and convenience of having continually updated articles that can be customized and edited as often as you like, with new articles added regularly.

Getting started with LifeLearn ClientED Online

Both new and existing LifeLearn customers must subscribe to the ClientEd Online service. Please contact your Cornerstone Sales Representative at 1-800-283-8386 for more information. Once you have completed the sign-up process and received your LifeLearn username and password, you can then perform the synchronization in Cornerstone to begin printing your ClientEd Online client handout documents.

Notes:

  • There is a one-time user license fee associated with ClientEd Online, as well as a monthly subscription fee. 
  • Using LifeLearn ClientEd Online documents requires Microsoft Word 2003 or newer. 
  • If you currently use CD-based LifeLearn documents with Cornerstone, rest assured that any existing documents you may have customized or edited will not be overwritten during the sync process in Cornerstone.
  • To avoid duplicate templates in the template list, delete any CD-based LifeLearn documents that you no longer want to use. Navigate to Lists > Documents to review and delete templates before you synchronize. 
  • If you had special actions set up with CD-based LifeLearn documents, change the special actions to link them to the online documents. 
    Example: Print document special action set to automatically print a LifeLearn document when a particular invoice item is invoiced.

Synchronizing LifeLearn ClientED document with Cornerstone

Upon activation of the ClientEd Online service with LifeLearn, the LifeLearn document will need to be synchronized in Cornerstone.

Navigate to select Tools > Synchronize LifeLearn Documents

  1. On the LifeLearn ClientEd Sync dialog box’s Account tab, enter your LifeLearn account username and password in the fields provided.
  2. Leave all other fields at their default settings, and click Sync Now to update Cornerstone with the latest documents available.
    • Once the first synchronization is run, you can then return to this dialog box at any time to sync and receive any new documents or edits in your online library. 
    • Depending on the speed of your Internet connection and transfer rate, the synchronization process may take a long time the first time you sync all documents with Cornerstone. Consider doing your initial sync during a time that you do not need to use that server, as it will be dedicated to the sync process. 
  3. Click OK.

Customizing and editing your library of ClientED Online Documents

LifeLearn ClientEd Online provides you the added flexibility to edit the handouts and to ensure consistency of the handouts across your practice.

You can:

  • You can do the following with your LifeLearn handouts:
    • Edit the handouts as often as you like
    • Customize any document to reflect your practice’s philosophy, style, or culture
    • Add your own articles to your library
    • Access a record of the edits made, date of the edit, and who in your practice has made the edits
  • Any edits made in your online library will be retained and reflected the next time you sync your LifeLearn ClientEd Online documents in Cornerstone.

Note: You will receive detailed instructions on editing and customizing your library of documents when you sign up for the ClientEd Online service with LifeLearn. LifeLearn documents on CD

If your practice uses LifeLearn documents on CD, when the documents are loaded into Cornerstone, they are added to your list of document templates and are available when you start a new document. You can also link documents to any of the following:

LifeLearn documents printed from Cornerstone include your practice information (name, address, phone number) and patient information.

  1. If you have not previously loaded the LifeLearn files, insert the LifeLearn CD into the CD drive and install them; otherwise, skip this step.
  2. In Cornerstone, from the Tools menu, select Load LifeLearn Documents and then select the type of documents that you purchased.
    Examples: Canine, Feline, Behavior, etc.
    • The first time a set of LifeLearn documents are added to Cornerstone, the New Letterhead Not Assigned dialog message displays. Click OK.
    • When the Locating LifeLearn letterhead file message displays, click C:\LifeLearn and click OK.
  3. If the Duplicate Documents message displays, do one of the following:
    • Click Yes to replace existing Cornerstone documents with any LifeLearn documents that have the same name.
    • Click No and the LifeLearn document with the same name will not replace the Cornerstone document.
  4. When the LifeLearn bookmarks added message displays, click OK. The documents in the selected document type have been added successfully to Cornerstone.
  5. Repeat step 2 – 4 to add documents for another LifeLearn document type. Example: Behavior, Canine, Feline, etc.
