Generating reminders overview

A reminder is a means of following up with a client about a patient’s specific needs. These can be a reminder to make a phone call or a reminder to send a letter, postcard, or email.

Important!

  • To email reminders using Word, you must have MS Outlook/Express physically installed on the computer you are sending reminders from. The web based version is incompatible.

Overview: Reminder types and adding to a patient

  • Reminder types include:
    • Letter, which are external. Example: Sent or emailed
    • Call Back, which are internal. Example: Call back list for phone calls
  • Reminders linked to invoice items and are added to a patient’s record when:
  • A reminder strategy should be in place for the following:
    • What to remind for
    • When and how to send reminders
    • What frequency reminders should be sent at

Overview: Reminder generation workflow

  1. When you are ready to send reminders to clients, select Generate Reminders on the Activities menu.
  2. Select the date range.
  3. Change the clients and species to send reminders to, if needed.
  4. Select the reminder output type.
  5. Make changes to the invoice item information, if not sending all reminders.
  6. When you click OK in the Generate Reminders window, Cornerstone searches all of the patient reminder files, that meet the specified criteria. Depending on the reminder output type, one of the following occurs:
    • The reminder information data is pulled into preformatted postcards that can be printed from Cornerstone.
    • A file of the reminder information is created that can be used with a reminder service or merged into Word to print or email.
      • If opting to use Microsoft Word to print or email reminders from Cornerstone, specially designed templates are provided and require a bit of customization.
      • Reminder data is merged into these templates using the reminder file created from generating reminders, and then printed or emailed. The Email Reminders check box must also be selected for clients and include an email address.
