The most frequently asked questions about setting up and using medical notes and correspondence documents.
Document was started under wrong doctor.
Staff IDs can be changed on draft/tentative status documents.
- Double-click the patient document from the Medical Notes tab on the Patient Clipboard.
- Double-click or F2 in the Staff ID field to bring up the Staff List.
- Select a staff ID and click Ok.
Document was entered under wrong patient.
Void document and reenter under correct patient. Security access to void documents is required.
- Double-click the patient document from the Medical Notes tab on the Patient Clipboard.
- Click Void.
- Click Yes to proceed with voiding the document or No to cancel the void.
I canceled out of the bookmark for lab results. How do I go back to it?
You can reinsert the bookmark in the document. First, make sure the results appear in the Lab tab of the patient’s history so they will be available to select and import into the document.
- Click within the document where it should display > Insert menu > Bookmark.
- Select Lab > Lab Results > select which fields in the order you want them to display.
- Click OK.
- Select the result(s) to include and click OK.
These steps also apply to the prescription bookmark. Ensure the label displays under the RX tab and navigate to the Prescription Inst bookmark file description.
Where can I view all medical notes I started earlier in the day that need to be finished?
- Open the Daily Planner.
- Enter your staff ID.
- Click the Medical Notes tab. The Correspondence tab can also be used to complete pending correspondence documents.

How do I change or remove the alert color that is always on a document?
Update the template properties Lists > Documents > Templates > Update > Edit Properties.
You can modify an individual document’s alert settings while it is in a Draft or Tentative status.
I am clicking within a document and unable to type anything.
If the document is Draft or Tentative status, the document is locked, click the lock/unlock icon.
If the document is Final status, you can add an Addendum.
How do I change the template used when I start a Medical Note Quick Text?
Make sure the template is set up under Lists > Documents, as a text type.
Change the default template under Controls > Defaults > Practice and Workstation > Documents > Text Only ID field.
How do you type in text input fields?
When locked, tab into fields and type. When unlocked, double click into fields and type.

How can I have a client initial and sign a document?
Only one client signature is permitted within a document. You can use checkboxes with “Yes, I agree, consent, acknowledge” and “No, I do not agree, consent” or similar worded statements to replicate initialing for consent or acknowledgement.
