A protocol is a detailed plan for medical treatment, which usually includes tests and procedures. 

If you have protocols set up for specific age or weight ranges, patients without a birth date or weight in their patient record will not be included in the results.

Patients with a diagnosis status of Ruled Out or Voided will be excluded, even if the diagnosis matches compliance protocol criteria.

You must select a default invoice item for a test, otherwise your missed opportunities will not be calculated correctly. Selecting a default allows the Compliance Assessment Tool to calculate missed opportunities, in dollar amount using the price of the selected default item.

The Compliance Assessment Tool checks a patient’s history for invoice items which were already provided. Hx Search is the number of months that the item is considered up to date, as a billed item from a posted invoice, in the patient’s history.

To change the number of months, click on the number next to the item and enter the new number.

Yes, the patient tab on the Client and Patient Report Builder allows you to easily make a report of patients that were invoiced for specific invoice items and not for others. The primary differences between the toe reports are:

• The Compliance Assessment Tool has a filter for age and diagnosis and can use the check in date for measurement.
• The Client and Patient Report Builder does not have a filter for diagnosis and uses the invoice date for measurement.

1. In the Protocol Setup Wizard left navigation pane, click Select Services.
   
2. Choose regular to access the Tests/Services list or choose alternative to access the Services/Dependents list.
   
3. From the respective list, select the service/test and click:
   • Add/update tests and services: Regular search type
   • Maintain services/dependents: Alternative search type
4. In the next window, make sure the test is selected in the pane and click Delete.
5. A message displays, indicating if the selected test is associated with any protocols. Click Yes or No to confirm.
6. Click Finish to return to the Protocol Setup Wizard Select services window.
7. Repeat steps as needed to remove additional tests/services or click Next and then Cancel to exit the Protocol Setup Wizard. Click Yes or No to generate results when exiting the wizard.

• Currently linked items appear in the bottom pane.
  • To add new item(s), search for items using the search field.
    • Use CTRL + click in the Invoice items search results pane to add items to the Invoice items selected pane.
    • Once added, set the Hx search (months) accordingly (defaults to 6 months) and reset default item, if needed.
  • To remove item(s), review the Invoice items selected pane, and search for the item(s) using the search field.
    • Use CTRL + click for highlighted items in the Invoice items search results pane to remove them from the Invoice items selected pane

Individual protocols can only have one weight and/or age range specified per species. If you want to develop a broader protocol, for example, a protocol for canine senior care, individual protocols based on weight and age can be placed in a group protocol.

All protocols in a group must have the same tests. Once a protocol is added to a group, only protocols with the same tests may be added. If you want to change a test on a protocol, you must either make the change to all protocols in the group or remove the individual protocol from the group.
